Paper hole punch machine

A hole puncher is a mechanical device used to create holes in sheets and bundles of papers for collecting them in a folder or binding. Hole punchers are of various types depending upon the type of material you want to make holes in like leather, cloth, plastic, etc.

How does a hole puncher work
The commonly used hole punchers have a long lever which in turn is used to push a metallic bladed cylinder (commonly called punch) through the material you want to make holes in. The adjustable paper hole punch can be single or multiple hole punch.

What are the uses of hole punchers

The use of hole punchers depend upon their type as follows

          Single hole punchers
Single hole punches are used in making scrapbooks and other paper crafts. They can also be used to punch a ticket to show that it has been used. A single hole punch is different from a ticket punch as it has a small reach when compared and also there is no choice of hole shapes in case of a single hole punch.
Single hole punches are being widely used in UK civil services. A single hole in the upper left corner is made and then a tag is attached to it to make it secure.
Kids also use single hole punches to punch holes in playing cards that have been used to cut down on cheating.

          Multiple hole punchers
Multiple hole punchers can easily make one to eight holes at once. Their placing may easily match the holes of the rings in the binder.
19 hole punches in case of a letter paper and 23 hole punches for an A4 sized paper are used to create a comb binding.
A lot of different models are available for office use which can make holes for up to 150  sheets of paper. Also, some Industrial models can make holes for up to 500 sheets at once.

History of the paper hole punch
The origin of the paper holes punch is believed to be in Germany. A Google doodle is also used to celebrate the anniversary of a paper hole punch on 14 November.
